The perfect newborn session…

This was what I call a perfect newborn session…longtime favorite clients…super sleepy 6 day old baby girl… new props to try… new backdrops… and I got to shoot it with my sister! She’s a photographer too and was visiting doing a workshop for other photographers in my studio. It was so much fun to combine our skills and artistic eye to create some new and different newborn images. These are definitely some of my favorites of late!

So my pregnant craving of the week is pineapple! Any way, shape or form…frozen pineapple yogurt, slushy, fresh pineapple, pineapple juice. Anyway I can get it…I want it!

We just LOVE surprises!
We have been getting way too much sleep lately
Our oldest turned 18 and went away to college
We wanted a little bit more chaos and A LOT more love in our home
We had given away all of our baby paraphernalia and baby gear is just SO much better these days
When you have 3 what’s one more???
I really wanted my own little newborn portrait model
We miss the pitter patter of little feet
More hugs and kisses!!!
It’s been 9 years since I’ve been pregnant and I forgot what it feels like
We miss the teeny tiny baby toes
and we can’t wait to meet our little unexpected blessing!

So it’s no wonder I’ve been taking lots of naps, flaking big time on my blog duties, craving strange foods at all hours of the day and night, and just not quite myself lately!

I have a confession to make. I have wanted to take a picture of my daughter in the yellow mustard flowers for about 5 years! In California, these flowers bloom like crazy in the end of March. Every, single year I promise myself I am going to get out there and take some pictures of my daughter in the beautiful yellow flowers and I never pull myself together to do it. Well this year I was absolutely DETERMINED to get it done. And I am so pleased with the results! This is my sweet daughter who’s just 13…

Growin’ up way too fast!

High school seniors are so much fun to photograph! This sweet girl is the daughter of one of my best friends growing up. Her mom and I have known each other since 1984! We grew up overseas together and were even college roommates. We were commenting on how weird it was that now I was photographing her daughter as a senior in high school! Time just flies by and it is so crazy! Anyway, I had so much fun with Kacey and she was such a trooper with all the outfit changes and even though it was pouring rain for most of the shoot. They came in from out of town and we really only had that one day to do the session so we just had to go with it!

One thing I know for sure is that every mom needs to have her picture taken with her child! So often, it’s mom who has the camera and is taking all of the pictures, but is in none of them! As they grow, it’s so important for your children to see you the way you were when they were little. To see how you interacted with them, laughed with them, hugged them and adored them! I know, I know, there are so many reasons not to be in the picture, “I’m so old…I’m so fat…I need a tan…but, my hair” and so on and so on. Enough already! It’s time to have your picture taken with your child!

Our Mommy & Me mini sessions are the perfect opportunity to do this. These sessions will take place in our studio on our white background. We recommend very simple clothing, jeans, white shirts, white sundresses. Keep it simple and you will have images that you and your child will treasure forever. Join us April 16-17th!
