From your very first conversation with us might we will ask you to start thinking about your portrait session with the end in mind. Meaning we want you to start by thinking about what your goal is for your portraits. We believe very passionately that the best place for your portraits is beautifully printed on the highest quality materials for you to display in your home and enjoy every day.
So, with that in mind, what are your hopes and dreams for your session? What is it about your children that you would like to remember in 20 years? And how do you want to remember it? Is it in an album that can be handed down from generation to generation? Or a wall portrait that will make you smile when you pass by it every day? Or maybe it is a collection of images arranged in a wall gallery that highlights your growing family year after year?
Whichever way you choose to display your images, we begin with the end in mind. Before we shoot any images, we create a plan for how they will be displayed in your home. Creating a plan and shooting for that plan results in a session that makes magic and is the recipe for a successful portrait process every single time.So let's show you how our Portrait Process works...
The Pre-Session Consultation
The first step is for us to get to know each other. We ask you to complete a presession questionnaire which asks about your goals for the session, how you plan to display your images, your home decor, personal style and any tidbits of info you can give us about your family. We want to know all about your personality, likes/dislikes, funny things your kids or spouse do, and what makes your family tick. We will review your questionnaire and then you have the option to come in to the studio or have a phone consultation prior to your session. This helps us to plan the session, find out what is important to you, go over details of the session, like what to wear and which location will be best for your family. This part of the process is the prework that enables the session to go well and helps us create the perfect images for you.
In Studio or On Location
Newborn and Baby Love sessions take place at our boutique studio in Aliso Viejo. We work with controlled studio lighting and temperature and a wonderful selection of custom props and set designs. The studio offers a calm and relaxed environment where we create a look that is timeless and sophisticated. Family sessions can be captured on location or in our studio. On location sessions offer an environment that is comfortable and familiar to families which often lead to comfortable and natural expressions. Sessions at one of Orange County’s beautiful parks or beaches make for some amazing and unique images, especially if the location is meaningful to you. Studio sessions with Jenny are a fun and relaxed experience for all as well. So consider carefully where you’d like to have your session, or we can recommend a spot for you after we have spoken with you at your pre-session consultation.
Sessions with Jenny are natural, relaxed and fun! You will be surprised at how quickly the time will go and how easily she will guide you into the natural posing that families do. She will provide gentle prompts and direction to foster genuine emotion and interaction between family members. She will have you all dancing, jumping, hugging, tickling and telling secrets - it will be easy, natural and fun.
Viewing & Ordering Appointment
This is the best part! The Viewing & Ordering Appointment is the time when you get to see all the fruits of the pre-session consultation and your session planning pay off. Your images are projected larger than life onto our viewing wall and Jenny will help you design the perfect portrait art for your home. She will help you sort through the images and make final decisions on what will look best with your home decor and with your portrait goals. You will be able to touch and feel the products we offer and see what your images will look like projected onto the walls of your own home using our projection software. We’ll show you actual size and pair images together for a wall portrait, gallery or heirloom album.
Seeing your images come to life in print is the most rewarding part of the entire process and Jenny truly loves to create beautiful artwork for her client's homes.
About 3-4 weeks later, your art piece will be ready for pick up. We’ll call or email you to let you know it’s here and make arrangements for you to take home your portraits. And if you need help with installation, we will gladly provide someone who can help with installation.
